Copy dentures (duplicate denture technique)

This is a method by which your Clinical Dental Technician can copy your original dentures, to reproduce a better fitting and stronger copy of your original set, sometimes this technique is called the 'twice copy technique', this is often used with full dentures.

Copy dentures using the duplicate denture technique are also useful when you wish to have a spare back up set or vanity set.

The copy denture technique or duplicate denture technique, is also used when patients do not wish to loose the appearance that friends and family have become accustomed to seeing.

The experience and knowledge of your Clinical Dental Technician will help to ensure the tooth selection and materials used, provide an exact copy and duplicate of your original denture.

Care should also be taken not to reproduce any errors inherent in your original denture, again ask your Clinical Dental Technicain for their advice.

It is also true to say that the Duplicate denture technique is not always the best option for replacing existing dentures, some practitioners use this technique as a short cut to providing new dentures to patients, as it reduces the number of appointments necessary and 'simplifies' both technical and clinical procedures. and does not embrace all of the relevant factors required to provide optimal dentures.

Duplicate dentures have their place, but should not be seen as the best or only option for replacing dentures. 

Copy or duplicate dentures are produced using your original dentures and mouldings are taken inside or around them.
