Dental implants to improve denture grip

Please note that we do not place dental implants, but work in conjunction with several Dentists who are competent to place dental implants in the St.neots and Cambridge areas.

This information is intended as an informative guideline, for patients wishing to consider this treatment option to secure Full dentures.

A dental implant is a metal rod that is placed in the jawbone to hold an artificial tooth or teeth in place.

Over several months, the bone fuses (osseointegrates) with the metal implant, this helps to improve denture grip for denture wearers.

This is done by a Dentist qualified and competent in implantology after assessing your suitability.mini_implants_photo

A small attachment is left visible through your gum and dentures or bridges can be screwed or clipped onto this attachment.

Peter has completed various Implant courses related to Clinical Dental Technicians, fitting and manufacturing and maintaining implant retained dentures to existing dental implants.

Dentures and bridges that are supported by successful implants tend to be very secure. Many people find that their implants last many years.

Implants are not suitable for everyone. You need to be in good general health, have healthy gums and your jawbone must be thick enough for the implant. There are however, surgical procedures to increase the amount of bone in your jaw. Your Dentist will tell you if this treatment is suitable for you after your examination.

We refer Full denture patients to several implantologists and can provide you with a coordinated treatment plan.

If you have dental implants, you must be prepared to maintain good oral hygiene and make regular visits to your Dentist and Clinical Dental Technician.
